The Characteristic of Word Definition in School-age Children with High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder

Abstract
This study is conducted to compare the depth of the word knowledge between children with High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder(HFASD) and typically developing children(TD).
HFASD(n=15) and TD(n=15) who matched with chronological age(CA) and expressive vocabulary ability on a one-to-one basis conducted the task of defining a word consisting of a concrete noun and an abstract noun. The accuracy of definition of HFASD is lower than TD in defining concrete nouns. As a result of analyzing the definition category according to functional definition, relational definition, physical definition, categorical definition and inappropriate definition, HFASD showed more inadequate definition than TD.
